ALL EYES ON RATES EX-ASIA AS AIRFREIGHT “MINI PEAK” FADES

The region retained some strength as far as airfreight rates are concerned.

     Heading into year-end 2025, Asia continues to show relative strength in airfreight rates, despite a seasonal slowdown in other regions following the U.S. Thanksgiving period.

     Industry data from Freightos and the TAC Index indicate that global airfreight rates declined toward the end of November, with Freightos reporting a 10% week-on-week drop. However, rates remain slightly higher year on year, supported by strong demand on key Asian export lanes, including routes from Bangkok, Taiwan, and Seoul.

     In Southeast Asia, rates out of Vietnam remained stable, while severe flooding in Thailand and neighboring countries disrupted road and port operations. Some forwarders have resumed services, while others are exploring alternative routings. Despite short-term disruptions and backlogs, industry participants expect regional volumes and rates to remain supported as shippers seek flexible routing options across Asia.
